talking to the dead

The only book that i have read where the main character has talked to the dead is Harry Potter. I do not remeber which book it was but I remeber it was at the end when he was looking into some mirror and he got to talk to his mom and dad. I think its pretty weird and unrealistic, but at the same time I wonder if anyone actually can.
